LYB 2008-2009 Season Auditions and Audition Registration Form

The 2nd round of auditions for the 2008-2009 Season will be held Saturday, November 8 and Sunday, November 9.   If you play a Brass, Woodwind or Percussion Instrument or Guitar, Bass Guitar or Piano and would like to audition, please download, print and complete the Audition Registration Form and mail it and the $15.00 registration fee to:

LYB Membership Requirements/Information

• Woodwind, Brass, Percussion, Guitar, Bass Guitar or Piano Player(Jazz)
• Audition (Registration Fee - $15.00)*
• Private Lessons (Do not need to be currently taking but will need lessons if accepted)
• Membership Fee: $225.00(per season) for 1 ensemble and $100.00(per season) for each additional ensemble (Scholarship/Fundraising opportunities available)*
• Rehearsals: Monday evenings for Percussion Ensembles and Tuesday evenings for Concert Bands and Jazz Combos at Bellarmine University  

Audition will consist of a scale of the student's choice, a prepared piece or a section of a piece (this could be a solo for the instrument or a section from a piece they are playing in school band or preparing for contest, All-County, etc. -  if the student is trying out for more than one ensemble, different styles of music will be required) and sight-reading                                             

Though it is not a requirement that students be a participant in their school band program, the LYB supports school band programs and strongly encourages all young musicians to participate in their school Band if at all possible.                                             

*All fees associated with the Louisville Youth Band are non-refundable
